Bolt Action - British & Canadian Army Infantry (1943-45)
A British infantry squad was referred to as a section, typically consisting of ten men. The section was divided into a separate rifle and Bren group that worked together in combat. The section was led by a corporal who was armed with either a rifle or a pistol, and included a lance corporal who was in charge of the Bren group.

As the war progressed, additional weapons were introduced into the sections to strengthen their capabilities on the battlefield. By the end of the war, many veteran sections were issued a second Bren, whether or not this was an official part of their equipment. Canadian infantry sections were organized in the same way as their British counterparts and from 1943 to 1945, they also used MMGs and HMGs on the Universal Carrier. The surplus of Bren weapons became available to some infantry sections as a result.
All three Canadian infantry divisions were trained to conduct amphibious landings and participated in important operations at Dieppe, Sicily, Italy, Normandy, the Breskens Pocket, and the Rhine crossing. The 3rd Canadian Infantry Division carried out so many amphibious assaults that they were nicknamed 'The Water Rats' by Field Marshal Montgomery.
