Robotto.se is proud to offer a wide range of Gundam models and products for all fans of the popular mecha anime franchise. One of the most fascinating aspects of the Gundam world is the different timelines presented, especially the differences between the Universal Century and the alternative timelines. In this article, we will explore these two main timelines and the unique characteristics that define them.
Universal Century (UC): The Original Timeline
The Universal Century is the original timeline in which the first Gundam series, Mobile Suit Gundam, takes place. This timeline was created by Gundam series creator, Yoshiyuki Tomino, and has since been the very core of the Gundam series. In the UC timeline, fundamental themes such as war, politics, and human suffering are addressed.
Key Events in the Universal Century
The Universal Century timeline was marked by important events and wars, including the legendary One Year War depicted in the original Gundam series. This conflict between Earth and the space colony Side 3, which later becomes the Principality of Zeon, set the tone for the rest of the UC timeline.
Another important event is the Gryps Conflict which takes place in Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam and changes the landscape of politics and the balance of power in the Universal Century. These events and many more shape the complex and deep world that is the Universal Century.
Alternative Gundam Timelines: A New Approach
In addition to the Universal Century, the Gundam franchise has explored several alternative timelines that offer new perspectives and stories for fans. These timelines give creators the freedom to experiment with different themes and concepts that differ from UC's more traditional narratives.
Seed Timeline: A Modern Retelling
The Seed timeline, as seen in the Gundam Seed and Gundam Seed Destiny series, offers a modern retelling of the classic Gundam formula. With a focus on genetic manipulation and the destructive scars of war, the Seed timeline takes the Gundam universe in a new direction.
Iron-Blooded Orphans: A Brutal World
Iron-Blooded Orphans introduced a whole new atmosphere to the Gundam world by focusing on a gang of child soldiers fighting for survival in a harsh and brutal world. This timeline explores themes such as class divisions and attempts to create a better future.
Summary: Exploring the Diversity of Gundam Timelines
The diversity of Gundam timelines offers a rich and varied experience for fans of this iconic anime franchise. Whether you prefer the classic tone of the Universal Century or the fresh perspectives of alternative timelines, the Gundam series has something for everyone.
